November 2020

26 November – Laying of steel reinforcement

Steel reinforcement being laid to form bottom of the chamber pit

This week saw the laying of the steel reinforcement bar, over 17 tonnes for each pit! This will be ready for the concrete pour next week.

18 November 2020 – Soil sensors installed

Energy House Labs Team installing the temperature sensing devices

This week the team laid down the cables and sensing equipment to measure the temperature of the soil beneath the building itself. This will allow the performance of the chamber pits to be measured and to ensure that any heat gain or lost through to the soil below the experimental area is accounted for.

06 November 2020 – Base of pits laid

Concrete pouring begins on base of pits, and drainage attenuation tanks nears completion

The base of the concrete pits now beings to be coated with concrete and the water attenuation system nears completion ready for covering and burying to the rear of the building.
